An Israel-based company, which is engaged in the development, design and manufacture of premium progressive lenses for the ophthalmic industry. Shamir specializes in premium progressive lenses under names such as Shamir Autograph II®, Shamir Golf®, Spectrum, Shamir Autograph II Attitude and Shamir Office™, the industry’s leading occupational lens. The type of progressive would be determent by your optical professional based on prescription, size and shape of the frame along with application of the glasses.
Let’s talk about Autograph III®, the revolutionary progressive lenses from Shamir
Autograph III is a personal progressive lens with a unique design combining two state-of the-art technologies:
1.Shamir’s Free Frame Technology is a groundbreaking design tool enabling the lens to automatically adapt to the frame size and shape. It dynamically adjusts the corridor length and moves the reading zone to the most optimal position in the frame.
2. Shamir’s unique As-Worn Technology bridges the geometric difference of the trial frame used by the physician when measuring the patient’s prescription, and the actual frame chosen by the patient. With As-Worn Technology, three essential measurements are determined: pantoscopic tilt, vertex distance, and face-form angle of the patient’s eyewear. Necessary power changes are then calculated in order to develop a new Rx called The Manufactured Prescription. This ensures that the patient benefits from the perception accuracy of the physician’s original prescription.
The increased demand for rimless & nylon frames has made the lens’ cosmetic appearance a significant factor. Shamir Autograph FreeFrame’s new, optimized lens design ensures the flattest possible lens.
Autograph® is a Freeform® lens.
People often wonder what would be the differences between semi-finished Progressive and Freeform® progressive lenses.
Semi-finished progressives are made when the progressive lens design is cast into a mold, the design is on the front and the patient’s Rx is later ground onto the back of the lens. Made at the lab, Freeform® lenses start from a single vision blank and are ground with precision.
Semi-finished lenses are all created from a mold. While the first lens cast from the mold is “perfect,” through time the mold slowly suffers from slight degradations and ultimately the design isn’t as “perfect” as it was in the first batch.
This loss of optical design does not occur in Freeform® lenses, such as Autograph®, because each one is created from a Freeform® machine, right on the spot and not from a 20th century mold. The lens is also personalized to fit the patient’s needs and both the patient’s Rx and the optical design are on the back of the lens which opens up the fields of vision for the patient.
